It’s really up to you!
Most people use a computer for very little of what it is capable of. I would bet that over 90% of computer users simply use it for email and some website reference and not much more. That being the case and that PC’s are much cheaper than a Mac, I actually prefer the use of a PC.
Mac’s are great however for many things. I generally see the people having problems with a PC finally making the jump to a new learning curve of a Mac only to find out that everything they heard about the Mac is not true. Some have taken them back after only a few weeks after not being able to get use to the differences. There seems to be an untruth circulating about Macs, that they have no problems and don’t get viruses etc. This was always odd to me as I have seen just as many problems with them as I have seen with PC’s. They are on the same internet and their hard drives also crash.
It may be true that Macs were at one time less susceptible to viruses and other issues as the people wishing to cause harm to computer users were not targeting the Macintosh as much as they were PC’s. This is quickly changing however and Apple is sending out many updates to their operating system as Microsoft has been.
Keep in mind that some websites providers may not be compatible with the Apple Safari browser. It is always in these website providers best interests to insure compatibility with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer however.
The Ipad is a great alternative to the Windows based laptop if you are needing a computer for basic simple use and applications.
